Hello, my name is Vicci-Lee Pearson. I am a Level 5 qualified specialist dyslexia tutor, a QTS teacher, and an associate member of the Dyslexia Guild.
Throughout my career I've been a teaching assistant supporting children one-to-one with a wide range of additional needs, including visual impairments and autism, a Year 3 primary school teacher, an Assistant SenCo, an Outdoor Early Years Practitioner and an Outdoor Alternative Provision Practitioner. These roles have given me deep insight into the learning barriers many children and young people face.
In 2025, I completed my Level 5 Dyslexia Training, and I am currently undertaking my Level 7 qualification with the British Dyslexia Association to become a qualified dyslexia assessor.
I am passionate about working with children in a highly personalised way, using fun, engaging, and multi-sensory approaches to support learning. I strongly advocate for developing metacognitive skills and equipping children with practical strategies they can confidently transfer into the classroom and beyond.
Outside of my professional work, I enjoy foraging and plant identification, visiting Neolithic sites, and studying English folklore. I am currently learning to roller skate, love tap dancing and am a proud member of the Cloud Appreciation Society!
I specialise in tutoring primary-aged children with a dyslexia diagnosis, those with suspected dyslexia and children who just need a little bit of a literacy boost. I also provide literacy and phonics tuition for homeschooling families. This is done at my home in Cookham in the evenings, at your child’s school (during school hours or as part of a breakfast club depending on your whether your child’s school can accommodate me with a space) or at your own home during typical school hours for those who are home schooled.
Lessons are between 1 hour and 1 hour 15 minutes long depending on need at least once a week. Some children may require two 30-minute sessions instead. I am also flexible for homeschooling parents who are looking for multiple short phonics /literacy sessions a week that work around your curriculum and will consider small groups for those without specific literacy needs.

Each child will need a personalised approach but there will be a combination of phonological awareness, alphabetic work, phonics, writing, reading and metacognitive strategies. Each session starts with a check in whereby the child may want to share their weeks activities, a new hobby or share something they have learned. Many children with dyslexia have adverse experiences with learning and it is really important that I take the time to get to know them and not rush learning. It should be fun, enjoyable and a positive experience.
It is understandable that parents want to see accelerated learning however children are people and learn at very different rates. Children need to feel comfortable and empowered by their own learning and this takes time and patience. All children learn differently and learning is never linear. Some children may suddenly make lots of progress, some may plateau for periods of time, and some may learn slowly and steadily, sometimes it’s a bit of all those things! However personalised learning programmes are shown to make a real difference with positive impacts on literacy outcomes, it’s just that that outcome looks different for everyone.
Yes, but only if it works for you. Flashcard work and targeted worksheets when delivered correctly at home can vastly help support learning outcomes and reinforce what has been taught in the lesson. Short bursts of work usually work best. However, research around the benefits of homework is complicated at best and depends on many different factors. Time to go over homework thoroughly needs to be incorporated into the lesson and conflicting approaches between tutors and parents may confuse children. Children need time to relax and have unstructured play outside of school without the stresses of worksheets. However, if you feel that you can incorporate homework effectively and without it becoming a stressful chore then I am more than happy to support you in delivering that.
I have both Professional Indemnity Insurance and Public Liability insurance.
